Let the world know about our values. And i think whats been happening here over the last few years is the fact that weve retreated in the world. And when we retreat, it creates a vacuum. Now when we retreat, what does that mean . Well, it means our friends are not sure who we are. And it even confuses our enemies and emboldens our enemies in a lot of ways. Now i think its really important we dont try to travel around the world remaking every country in the image of america. But it is important that we can assert ourselves, and, you know, i think i was the first leading republican that i know of in the country to say that you want to fight isis . You just cant coulddo it from the air. We need to drove a coordinated effort. And if it means that u. S. Boots on the ground is necessary so be it. But were not there to change the way these countries work. Were there to restore order to assert a lot of the values that we have that everybody has the right to live free. So if thats what we need

Worldwide event. So were in a world war. And were up against a very sophisticated, capable enemy. The recruiting of foreign fighters, into syria and iraq, we have not found a way yet in my opinion to effectively stop or even slow it down. And it is more than a Law Enforcement, it is more than an fbi mission, but it certainly is an and an fbi mission. But just last week, we learned about a 47yearold air force veteran, who tried to join isis, and before his apprehension, tarod pugh worked for a number of american firms overseas including a u. S. Defense firm in iraq for whom pugh performed of avionics on u. S. Aircraft. We had several stories like that that appeared. Is there a magic bullet to try to get at that kind of problem . That fbi can do . There isnt a magic bullet. It is, to us, it is about a full court press making sure that we are that we have sources where we need them to be, that we have the capability, both the know how and Technical Capability to play in the online space w
Access network would cost. Im out of time. Thank you. Thank you very much, mr. Chairman. Thank you to you and the Ranking Member for holding this important hearing. As a former prosecutor and cochair along with senator burr of the 911 caucus in the senate, i know how important it is to support our First Responders. Im also the state that had that bridge collapse and while everyone saw on tv the First Responders show up and repeatedly dive into that water to look for survivors and all the work of the Emergency Responders, what people didnt see were the 77 men and women at the Minneapolis Emergency Communications center who took those calls. While a number of people died, it could have been so much worse because people were able to get to hospitals. There were dozens more cars in there and people survived because of our First Responders. I have worked hard to strengthen our countrys Emergency Response network in part by sponsoring and working on the legislation that led to the creation o
