Former Jackson commissioner Buddy Patey dead at 95
Longtime Jackson resident Buddy Patey died on Friday at the age of 95.
Patey was known for his work in football officiating, but he also served in Jackson city government, as education commissioner before the city adopted the mayor/city council form of government.
His son, local attorney Mark Patey, confirmed his father’s death with a Facebook post Sunday night.
“Dad loved our community with all of his heart and always wanted the best for everyone and saw that as his purpose,” Mark Patey said. “God allowed us to have Buddy Patey a long time here in order for God to share his good qualities with this world, and I believe that God will now share this kind-hearted, engaging and loving Man with Eternity.”
