What i am planning to do today is to talk about james and Dolley Madisons lives before they were james and Dolley Madison. Then consider their partnership and how it worked to both of their great advantage, because of it being such a wonderful partnership. Found the washington, everything Martha Washington did likewise. It was a business relationship, but not without affection. I think they had deep respect and affection for each other. She was as close to her hometown and she would get. She owned most of this whole block going back a couple of acres, which means she owned a huge chunk of what williamsburg was. There was a lot of tragedy in Martha Washingtons life. She lost her first husband. She was raised a rich woman, what that means an 18th century is now what it means today. When she marriage George Washington, she brings with her to mount for then 12 house slaves and that is really almost an unimaginable luxury. It would take her ten days to travel here to valley forge from mount vernon in her carriage with her slaves and this was a difficult journey. Marthas experience had prepared her to become the first first lady. Born in virginia in 1731, Martha Washington was 57 years old and 1789 when she and George Washington, once again, l

To the streets of old city philadelphia and imagine what life was like under british rule. One of the big agendas of the event is to present the fall of 1777 in a complicated way to show that for many of the people that remained in the city that winter this was an occupation and maybe a liberation from many of their perspectives and they wrote about in the period being liberated from the ash trar congress which is maybe something we can all aspire to some day. So we do this with living history programming in part because people come to museums to learn in all different ways to encounter the real things of history to have a Human Experience to connect with it and one way we bring it to life is with living history programming with the new Theatrical Program where richard storms into the room with guns blazing and the spoilers at the end of his life, but he maybe doesnt know that yet. Some of you exposed your own British Occupation, or perhaps liberation in the perspective of many. Its our third year in a row doing sort of what we call flagship living history event. We place about 70 costumed interpreters out on to the streets of old city philadelphia and imagine what life was like under british rule. As anybody ever been to tubman house . You should check it out on one of the volunteers days. After the uprising of the murder freddie grayy took over a house in west baltimore. They took over houston turned into abe community center. This is a c neighborhood in winchester were people in very little if anything andnd the Community Came together to take Something Back for themselves. A subsequent, the house had to be demolished but they had taken over multiple lots in the area. They have chickens, farms, this amazing Youth Program going on. Its just a set of hope for a neighborhood that needs o it. They did all that under the name of tubman house because the story of Harriet O Tubman was oe that inspired people to think that date and to think that bold.
