We are looking at a commute that will be wet and is wet right now. Starting off with the Altamont Pass community and you will see that traffic is going to be slow and speeds are going to be down in some of these areas here, which is typical whether its raining or not, down to 7 miles an hour, thats pretty slow, almost stopped at seven. When you get out to the livermore area, speeds pick up, you can see that traffic out here is going to be pretty good, a little bit of slow traffic at the dublin interchange but then youre back up to the speed limit by the time you reach
Chp was on scene, they just now towed the two pickup trucks that were involved out of the area and it is a reminder to take it easy out there this morning. Meanwhile, chp also investigating that overnight fatal collision, that fatal crash. At this point chp has not confirmed rain was a factor in that crash either. Here are the details on that. A big rig crashed here after 10 00 last night on highway 101 just north of san pedro road. The chp says the big rig slammed into the Center Divide and then caught fire. Chp reported that fire was coming from the front and rear of that big rig, by 10 35 a sigalert had been issued because all northbound lanes were blocked along with three southbound lanes. Now, at this point no word on the identity of the person who was killed in that crash. That sigalert cancelled at 3 30 as all lanes of 101 were reopened. Now, we are hearing that a caltrans crew is expected out here between 7 00 and 9 30 this morning to begin repair work on that Center Divide. By
Within the past hour. I will step out of the way to show you the dramatic cloud cover looking out towards San Francisco over San Francisco bay. The main front, the brunt of the system moved out early this morning but still, some leftover showers producing some off and on showers over the past few hours. That was a factor this morning. The biggest rainfall totals on the coastal hills and the Santa Cruz Mountains in Sonoma County as well over 3 inches of rain over the past 24 hours. Santa rosa picking up over an inch in san rafael and San Francisco to tenth of an inch so a big range and rainfall totals as we expected but the bulk of the rainfall is really up in the north a. Quite a few reports over an inch for grimble, sebastian, atlas peak. We are watching rainfall rates with fire burn zones but i dont see any flash flood warnings from the National Weather service. Jose. We do have some reports of roadway flooding near the 87 connector, there was a Traffic Accident there earlier. Also a report of some flooding near the on ramp of lawrence expressway at 101 south. There was a truck driver that reported the water was getting high there. Enough to possibly cause a Traffic Accident because it caused him to swerve. Really be careful out there. Give yourself a lot of time. As i said, here it is misting. San jose, it was raining a little bit harder down there. Were going to be monitoring the ropes and going backand forth and were going to check out some of the roadway flooding.
