Alton fire fatality identified

Using lights, investigators worked well into the night Tuesday processing a fire scene in the 800 block of Arch Street in Alton where a body was found. Alton firefighters were at the address early Monday for a garage fire that spread to an apartment at the property. Madison County Coroner Steve Nonn has identified the deceased as John P. Weber, 40, of Alton.
EDWARDSVILLE The body of a man found in the remains of a structure fire in Alton Tuesday evening has been identified by the Madison County Coroner’s Office.
The body of John P. Weber, 40, of Alton, was found Tuesday evening by friends or family of the victim. Firefighters had put out a structure fire in the apartment/garage in the 800 block of Arch Street in Alton Monday morning.
Kenneth N. Edelman passed away peacefully Sunday, March 28, 2021 from natural causes.
He was born in Pittsburgh, PA in 1934 to Marian Anette Crooks and Harry R. Edelman II. He was preceded in death by his two brothers Bob and Bud.
Ken attended Edgewood High School, and University of Pittsburgh before entering Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. The summer after high school he and his buddies drove around the country seeing the sights. He married Sandra Lee Wood in 1959 and raised three boys in Bradford, PA, Pittsburgh, PA, West Lafayette, IN and Alton, IL. Rich, Mark and Paul share their father’s sense of humor and love of adventure.

Sister Joan Ann Springman, OSU, died peacefully at 11:45 am on Sunday, April 18th. She was born on February 24, 1934 at her home in Alton, Illinois; the youngest of eight children of Joseph J. and Elizabeth (Valerius) Springman. She had 5 brothers, Jerome V., Eugene E., Gerald J., Edmund J., and Joseph J.; and 2 sisters, Mary L. Girard and Delores T. Mills all of whom preceded her in death.
At the age of 19, she entered the Religious Order of Ursuline s on July 15, 1953, and made her Initial Profession of Vows on January 16, 1956 when she became known as Mother Mary Immaculata. She knew she wanted to be a religious from the time she was in the 2nd grade.
