3/8/2021 10:20:45 AM Janice F. Ricks passed away at 10:33 a.m. on Friday March 5, 2021 at OSF St. Anthony’s Hospital in Alton. She was born July 14, 1946 in Alton the oldest daughter of the late F. W. Pivoda Jr. and Betty Westbrook Pivoda. She married Michael L. Ricks on March 20, 1970. He survives. She graduated from Alton High School in 1964, and earned her B.A. at SIUE, graduating in 2006. She was employed by The Wall Street Journal, the Graduate School of Business at The University of Chicago, Owens Illinois Machine Manufacturing, and the Alton City Clerk’s Office, finally retiring as administrative assistant at The Episcopal Parish of Alton. She was an Elder of the Presbyterian Church. A talented vocalist, in her early college days she played the guitar and performed folk music, twice winning the SIUE Talent Show. She also appeared in several plays at the university, with lead roles in Sheridan’s The Rivals, and Bell, Book and Candle. Later in life, she loved singing old

Godfrey Ruth Pranaitis, 69, died at 10:43 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born November 8, 1951 in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of Andrew R. and Shirley Ruth (Kellum) Carter. She retired after more than 25 years as a kindergarten teacher for Evangelical School in Godfrey. She was a passionate teacher and loved every single student she taught. She made school a fun and inspiring adventure for all of her kids. She loved traveling and exploring new places with her daughters, especially at her favorite place on earth, Walt Disney World. She always saw the world with a childlike wonder and saw the beauty in the little things, like Christmas lights and the perfect seashell she found on the beach. She was creative and artistic and could master any craft she tried, from cake decorating to making stained glass stepping stones. Jeannette Mae Jacoby Obituary | Alton Daily News

1/29/2021 5:36:13 AM Jeanette Mae Jacoby, 88, died peacefully at her home on January 27, 2021. Born in Alton, Illinois on January 25, 1933, she was the daughter of Charles Herman and Agnes Elizabeth (Boyd) Luft. She married Dr. Robert Paul Jacoby on April 8, 1961 at Upper Alton Baptist Church. He preceded her in death on July 14, 1997. Jeanette was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church where she was active in numerous positions, most notable coordinating flowers for many years. She was a volunteer in the White Cross Auxiliary at Alton Memorial Hospital working in the gift shop for over 30 years and was a member of P.E.O. Chapter GG in Alton. She was a member of the Community Service League for 20 years as well as the Upper Alton Women’s Club for 14 years.
