AppHealthCare s weekly situation report for Watauga County the week of December 6-12 indicates there was an increase in active cases and a slight decrease in those who are in quarantine.
Cases have continued to remain steady for the most part but when looking at the cumulative case trend, the past couple of weeks have seen an increased trend. Hospitalization numbers continue to be a concern, as Watauga remains in phase 3 of the 4 phase surge plan, meaning there are 25 positive COVID-19 patients hospitalized. In the latest update, Watauga County has moved from YELLOW to ORANGE in the County Alert System, which notes substantial community spread.
