To help augment the pandemic response for its personnel who contracted the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) formally turned over P2.5 million grant to the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday, April 26.

Amid the surge in COVID-19 cases, PAGCOR turned over the said grant to the PNP for the procurement of medical supplies to be used in its hospitals and health facilities – where over 1,300 infected PNP personnel are undergoing treatment.

On Thursday (March 11), Sinas announced that he has contracted the disease.
“I sincerely hope and pray that General Sinas will recover from COVID-19,” Binay said in a statement on Friday (March 12).
“And when he does, I also pray he will have a deeper respect for the value of life, and why these senseless killings done by the PNP should stop,” he added.
The former vice president was referring to the recent controversial killings involving policemen.
On March 7, nine activists were killed as police and military forces conducted a series of raids on the offices and houses of leaders and members of groups being linked to the communist rebels in the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, and Batangas.

During the roll call of resource persons, the secretariat of the Senate committee on justice and human rights said they sent an invitation to Sinas office but there was no reply. Nonetheless, Gordon was informed that the PNP was represented by Police Major General Marni Marcos Jr., director of the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management. I m representing Gen. Sinas because he s attending other activities, your honor, Marcos said as he introduced himself.
