Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 28) - Senators expressed dismay with the absence of the top brass of Philippine National Police (PNP) in Thursday s hearing on the spate of killings.
The Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights secretariat reported that PNP Chief General Debold Sinas did not give any reason for his absence.
The committee noted at least 20 killings year-to-date, including a lawyer, priest, politician, and teacher.
“This is a very serious meeting. As you can see, several senators, practically all, have come up with resolutions or bills expressing their concerns on these killings. Pakiabot lang kay General Sinas (Please relay this to General Sinas),” committee chairman Senator Richard Gordon said.
