Recognized for her efforts in promoting inclusion and helping disabled students thrive, Jackie Stoffel was named Teacher of the Year at the BEA’s annual all-faculty event on Wednesday at BHS.
“(Two of my teammates) ran up to me during lunch and started shaking me, yelling that we made it to worlds,” team member Carter Thorson said regarding the news of the team’s world invite.
For its 37th year of running, Tverstol along with 12 other student spellers competed in a total of 13 rounds involving words like “evaded,” “embrace” and “excited.”

With about a hundred people in attendance, the forum was split into two sessions. Candidates vying for three four-year positions took part in a question-and-answer session moderated by Larissa Donovan in the morning. Candidates vying for two two-year positions then participated in an afternoon session.
