Women’s economic equality remains elusive in countries at every level of income. Women earn less than men. They participate in the labor force at lower rates and when in the labor force, they have higher unemployment rates. They are overrepresented in low paying jobs and underrepresented in leadership roles. They spend more than twice as much time providing unpaid care for children and for elderly household members than men do. What will it take to close these gaps worldwide?
