The days of publishing research in prestigious scientific journals as the main measure of research success may soon be behind us. The Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) is on a mission to reform international research assessment practices, focusing instead on a more inclusive approach to research output that prioritises quality and impact. The Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) recently voiced its support for this movement as the first university of applied sciences in the Netherlands to sign the agreement.
The Urban Research and Education Knowledge Alliance (U!REKA), the European network of higher education institutions, has been selected by the European Commission for funding in the European Universities Initiative (EUI) call 2023. This means that U!REKA will become an official Erasmus+ co-funded European University Alliance, with an expanded partner network and a common vision of climate neutrality and beyond. The Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) is one of the key partners in this network.

Nearly 200 people from 10 countries across Europe convened in Amsterdam from 30 May – 2 June for the annual event for the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences’ European network of universities of applied sciences, U!REKA. This event focused on the shift needed for a sustainable future and drew some high profile attendees, including the Deputy Mayor of Amsterdam responsible for Sustainability, Circular Economy, as well as representatives from EURASHE and UAS4EUROPE.
