Bella Italia looks set to become a Taco Bell as plans have gone in to convert it. Pic: Google Street View PLANS have been submitted to convert a restaurant at a busy retail and leisure park into a new Taco Bell restaurants. The application, if approved, would see the Bella Italia restaurant at Centre 27 Business Park in Birstall become a Taco Bell, and have a drive through extension built. It would join KFC, McDonald’s, Krispy Kreme, a new Tim Horton’s, Chiquito, Frankie & Benny’s, Nando’s, Starbucks, Zizzi, Pizza Express, Caffe Nero, Costa and TGI Friday at the sprawling retail park by Junction 27 of the M62.
TWO vehicles were seized yesterday by the West Yorkshire Police Roads Policing Unit. The first was a disqualified driver on the M62 Westbound travelling to West Yorkshire for a bite to eat. After parking at Hartshead Moor Services, the South Yorkshire resident was reported to court and his Peugeot was taken. The other incident occurred on Gelderd Road in Birstall where a car was pulled over for failing to stop at a red light. The driver stated he was insured on traders policy for the company he worked for. However, when asked for proof of employment, messages were found between him and the company colluding to falsify a wage slip to show the officer.
Carl Farraker with his family
The fundraising event by the team at Pet Brands was prompted by creative director Carl Farraker’s recent shock diagnosis of cancer with metastasis, meaning that he is now receiving palliative chemotherapy to help relieve his symptoms.
His colleagues came together and organised the half-marathon to provide support for his family, including his three young daughters, allowing the family to spend precious time together creating some special memories.
Bridgette Sturgeon, group head - national key accounts, who has worked with Carl for the last three years, started and finished the run from the Pet Brands offices in Birstall, accompanied by several members of the team who have been training on Fridays to prepare for the event.
