Advocate General B.S. Prasad on Monday informed Telangana High Court that investigators would record the statements of the accused in the sensational lawyer couple murder case under section 164 of Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.P.C.).
However, recording statements of all the accused and the witnesses in the case would require a couple of weeks time, the Advocate General told a bench of Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy. The bench was hearinga PIL petition taken up by it suo moto over the murder of lawyers Gattu Vaman Rao and his wife P.V. Nagamani practising in the HC.

HYDERABAD: Expressing apprehensions that the police may not probe the murder of the lawyer-couple Gattu Vaman Rao and P.V. Nagamani in a fair manner, his father, Gattu Kishan Rao, has filed a writ petition seeking a direction to the state government to transfer the probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Hyderabad: Congress leaders led by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Uttam Kumar Reddy met Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan on Friday and demanded a fair probe into the murders of advocates Gattu Vaman Rao and PV Nagamani, who were killed in broad daylight in Telangana’s Peddapalli district last week.
TPCC President Uttam Kumar Reddy, speaking to ANI said, “The recent incident where two High Court advocates were hacked to death on a highway in broad daylight by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party activists in Manthani Assembly Constituency has shaken the Telangana state.”
