ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) A 16-year-old is behind bars and is being charged with the murder of 71-year-old Richard Sciascia after an attempted carjacking earlier this month.
Sciascia s stepdaughter, Emily Austin, said the family is relieved to know that police have a suspect, but they re still trying to pick up the pieces as they continue to mourn the loss of a loved one. I just pray for rehabilitation for the young kid, I pray that they re made an example of so that this doesn t continue in our community I hope the community can rest,” Austin said.
Austin said her family feels a sense of relief. She said they ve been kept well-informed through this investigation, but didn t know what to think when the phone rang Thursday afternoon.
