Centre committed to bringing natural gas under GST regime; plans to spend Rs 7.5 lakh crore on infrastructure: PM Modi ANI | Updated: Feb 17, 2021 17:49 IST
New Delhi [India], February 17 (ANI): Asserting that the central government is committed to bringing natural gas under the Goods and Service Tax (GST) regime, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that centre plans to spend Rs 7.5 lakh crore on creating oil and gas infrastructure over five years.
While dedicating and laying the foundation of key oil and gas projects in Tamil Nadu, Prime Minister in his address through video-conferencing said that Indian oil and gas companies are present in 27 countries with an investment worth about Rs 2.70 lakh crore.

New Delhi [India], February 17 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated and laid the foundation of key oil and gas projects in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. We are here to celebrate the beginning of important oil and gas projects, not just for Tamil Nadu, but for the entire country, PM Modi said while addressing the event through video-conferencing. Indian Oil s 143-km-long natural gas pipeline from Ramnathpuram to Thoothukudi that is being launched today will monetize the gas from ONGC s gas fields. This is part of a larger natural gas pipeline project being developed at a cost of Rs 4,500 crore. It will benefit several areas in South India, he added.
PM Modi expressed that it is everyone's collective duty to work towards clean and green sources of energy and to reduce energy dependence. PM Modi also said that the Centre has planned to spend Rs 7.5 lakh crore in creating oil and gas infrastructure over five years.

New Delhi, Feb 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday laid the foundation of key projects of the oil and gas sector in Tamil Nadu through video conferencing.
While addressing the event, Modi said, In 2019-2020, India imported over 85% of oil & 53% of gas to meet domestic demand. I don t want to criticize anyone but I want to say, had we focused on these projects much earlier our middle class would not be burdened. India is now increasing focus on ethanol to help farmers & consumers. We are furthering urges of solar power to become the leader in the sector & are encouraging public transport to make people s life productive & easy, he said.
