The Rougemont-1 well, spudded on May 14, reached a total target depth of 800 m. The company said this strengthens its view that these coals will be developed synergistically with the Reid’s Dome gas discoveries. The well is the first of two planned wells being drilled to evaluate the Bandanna coals in the eastern flank of the Rolleston-West permit, which was granted to State Gas by the Queensland government late last year.

Strike Wins Western Australia Block Sydney-listed Strike Energy has been awarded the Perth basin block L20-3 under the Western Australia Petroleum Acreage Release 1 of 2020, it said on March 15.  The L20-3 block is located at the southern edge of the Perth basin Permian Gas Fairway, which has yielded more than 3 trillion ft 3 of discoveries to date, including Strike’s West Erregulla gas discovery, it said. The block is flanked by gas discoveries, with the Permian Beharra Springs complex and West Erregulla fields to the north, the Permian Woodada field to the west, and the Ocean Hill Jurassic wet gas discovery to the east.

An initial public offering (IPO) and capital raise of A$60-A$65mn (US$47mn-US$51mn) has been proposed to fund the acquisition of Northern basin assets from Armour and to fund forward exploration.
