The Wildcats (1-1), who smoked Sheldon in the season-opener last week for the program’s first victory in five years, found themselves in an 8-0 deficit after four innings against the Hornets (2-2) — not helped by the fact they stranded seven runners in the first two innings. Bronaugh had the bases loaded with one out in the second inning, but failed to capitalize. The Wildcats finally got on the board in the top of the fifth thanks to a sacrifice fly by sophomore Tanner Wait that scored senior Logan Rainey. They strung together some hits again in the seventh, but the comeback ultimately fell short.
