A 35-year-old artist of Ganjam carves a wooden portrait of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to mark his third oath-taking ceremony. The portrait, made of gambhari and teak wood, is 33-inch high and 26-inch wide. The artist took around 10 days to complete the artwork and plans to present it to PM Modi during his visit to Odisha.
For the first time since 1952, the state assembly will not have any MLA from the royal families of Ganjam district. The defeat of both royal scions not only signifies personal political setbacks but also marks the end of the long-standing political association of their families.
Ganjam district in Odisha, known for electing the highest number of BJP MLAs, is expected to have a greater representation in the new government with several MLAs likely to get cabinet berths.
