Multiple teams of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday carried out searches at 15 locations in poll-bound West Bengal in connection with the coal smuggling money laundering case.  The ED action comes almost one and half month after it had carried out searches at 12 locations in the state in the same case. Image Source: IANS News Kolkata, Jan 13 : The CBI on Wednesday carried out raids at 10 locations in West Bengal s Asansol, Durgapur and Raniganj areas in connection with a case of illegal coal mining and theft from Eastern Coalfield Limited (ECL). According to sources, around 75 CBI officials were engaged in the operation, that included searches at the houses of racket kingpin Anup Majhi alias Lala and his accomplice Binoy Mishra s relatives. On Monday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had conducted raids at 12 locations across the state in connection with the coal scam, including searches at offices and residential addresses of businessman Ganesh Bagadia and Sanjay Singh.

KOLKATA: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday carried out extensive raids at 12 different locations across West Bengal in connection with illegal coal mining and theft from public sector coal firm Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL). According to sources, a large team of ED officials conducted the search operations at offices and residential addresses of businessman Ganesh Bagadia and Sanjay Singh. The raids were conducted since Monday morning in Kolkata s Lake Town area, Garia, Konnagar s Kanaipur in Hooghly district and North 24 Parganas in connection with the illegal trading of coal. The duo Bagadia and Singh are believed to be linked with illegal coal racket kingpin Anup Majhi, alias Lala, who is allegedly running the syndicate in connivance with Binay Mishra.
