Windthorst Mayor David Lowenberg and administrator Harley McCarthy both registered. Lowenberg attended his first convention in person two years ago in Saskatoon, but this is the first virtual convention for all. It was definitely different sitting in a room all by yourself for the four-day convention listening to the speakers and taking it all in through your computer. Lowenberg took helpful information away from the convention that he could bring back to the Village. “Grants and getting ideas that other communities are doing with infrastructure,” says Lowenberg “As long as you bring back one thing from the convention, it’s worthwhile.”
“To this end, prior to the regional meeting on December 2, 2020, I had called all but one of my communities to remind them of the meeting, to encourage all of their councils, especially new members, to participate, and to remind them that any elected official was eligible to run for either regional director of alternate. “In addition to these reminders, I was checking to see if there were issues that needed to go to the board meeting that was held on December 4th. Beyond connecting with my communities, I attend four board meetings per year at which we set policy for MoS and sit on several committees that look in depth at the business of the organization.
