The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) said a plan to repatriate residents back to Parkside is now underway. According to a statement, it calls for limiting occupancy to two residents per room “in an effort to reduce potential transmission of COVID-19.” A message to families said the policy has already been implemented for residents still on site.

SHA CEO Scott Livingstone mentioned four-bed accommodations as one factor that may have allowed the virus to spread more quickly. Parkside had 34 four-bed rooms, which previously allowed it to reach a total capacity of 228 residents.

For the first time since the deadly outbreak at Parkside Extendicare was declared in late November, there are no known infected residents at the Regina private care home.
