New location for homeless encampment faces opposition, handful choosing to stay at Reindahl Park

By Jamie Perez May 11, 2021 | 4:05 PM MADISON, Wis. The City of Madison asked those staying at the now unauthorized homeless encampment at Reindahl Park to move to an approved location at Starkweather Creek Park. But close to a dozen homeless people are choosing to stay at Reindahl, even after being ordered to leave. “They’re trying to figure out when it’s actually appropriate to come clean up,” said James Degrey who is homeless. “We are totally willing to work with that but there’s more than one communication breakdown.” Degrey and other homeless people say there’s confusion as to where they can legally stay.

Dozens march in Madison for transgender rights | 1310 WIBA

Mar 13, 2021 MADISON (WKOW) Dozens of people marched in Madison Friday night to stand up for the rights of transgender people. They started at the Doyle Administration Building, marched around downtown and ended up at the State Capitol. Gabriella Jenich, a transgender woman who took part in the march, said the bill is an attack against trans identities. To say that we re a threat to a cisgendered person that s playing sports, and their ability to gain awards or gain merit for what they re doing is just obnoxious. It s absurd, Jenich told 27 News. And when trans people start dominating sports, then you know, then come talk to me.
