following the ordinary legislative process, bring up a bill, bring up amendments to the bill and send the bill to the house, that should be enough for most reasonable democrats. it would be curious to see how it breaks down in the democratic caucus in terms of voting this afternoon. where are you on the scale of pessimistic to op mystic that the government reopens today? i gave up trying to handicap that over the weekend. i didn t think we would be in the position. i ve been in washington forever, about six or seven years, i ve never seen folks vote against a bill they like in order to force a shut down. when we voted against the funding bill of 2013 we did it because we didn t like funding obamacare. this is different. so i have given up handicapping. all can i say is we are working it make the lapse in appropriations as painless as we p possibly can. one more time, jeff flake is speaking now. he changed his vote. let s listen. i m very encouraged we had good turnout from both
