manich@leaderherald.com JOHNSTOWN The Fulton County Board of Supervisors will be naming members to various groups and county departments at its first monthly meeting of the year at 1 p.m. Monday. The session will be held online via Zoom teleconference, which is viewable by the public on the county’s website homepage. In addition to normal updates from committees, communications and the chairman’s report, the board will entertain numerous resolutions appointing members of various groups. The new board for 2021 hasn’t had committee activity yet, so the first session of the new year is typically personnel-related, as slots are filled for the coming year.

aonyon@leaderherald.com GLOVERSVILLE The owner and lone occupant of a home on Burdick Road is receiving assistance from the American Red Cross after a fire tore through the structure on Tuesday night. The Meco Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to 261 Burdick Road on Tuesday night for a reported structure fire was called in by the homeowner at approximately 7:54 p.m., according to Fulton County Emergency Management Director Steven Santa Maria. Responding units, upon arrival, encountered a single-wide trailer home heavily engulfed in flames and requested additional assistance at the scene. Air pack qualified crews from the Pleasant Square Volunteer Fire Company and Sir William Johnson Volunteer Fire Company responded with additional tankers. Members of the Sammonsville Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene with another tanker and the Caroga Lake Fire Department provided support on standby at the Meco station.

Fulton County Fire Coordinator Steve Santa Maria said a neighbor called in a house fire at 140 McKay Road at approximately 12:14 p.m.
