Jersey Shore, Pa. — Bald Birds Brewing Company is among the 20 breweries that will be serving a new Fruited Sour beer using exclusively Pennsylvania ingredients.
The next beer in the PA Pride series is a fruited sour that goes on sale in cans and on tap on Friday, June 24. The beer is made with locally sourced ingredients, including the Philly Sour Yeast, which was discovered on a tree in West Philadelphia's Woodland Cemetery as part of a project by a brewery sciences class at the University of the Sciences about six years ago. The beer has a 5.7% alcohol content, and was brewed with local ingredients like grain and malt from Chester County's Deer Creek Malthouse, hops from King of Prussia-based Zuckerman Honickman.
