French cosmetic companies and governmental agencies have mobilized to create a platform that can issue all required documentation for exports to China exempt from animal testing (Getty Images) France has become the first EU country to qualify for exemptions on animal testing for general-use cosmetics exported to China after its National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products (ANSM) developed a dedicated platform enabling manufacturers to obtain necessary certificates and approvals.
Last week, France’s ANSM unveiled a dedicated online platform via Demarches-simplifiees which enabled French beauty makers to apply for a Good Manufacturing Practices [Bonnes Practiques de Fabrication] certificate to prove production sites complied with China’s safety requirements. Obtaining the certificate, alongside providing compliant product safety assessments, exempted firms from previously required animal testing.
