The 13th cycle of Alley Cat Rescue's annual Feral Fix Challenge ran from March 15 through December 31, 2023, with record results. The Challenge is a global event that invites veterinarians to get involved with trap-neuter-return (TNR) by providing low-cost or free spay/neuter surgeries and rabies vaccinations for free-roaming cats. The goal of the Challenge is to save feral cats from shelter euthanasia, starvation, and disease by humane population management.
In a nine-page letter, Pumphrey shared frequently asked questions about their cat programs, data backing these programs, and noted support from multiple animal welfare stakeholders.
A free spay/neuter clinic will be offered in Hāna, June 6-8, 2023. This partnership between Maui Humane Society and Greater Good Charities’ Good Fix program, will allow upwards of 500 owned pets (dogs and cats) and free-roaming cats to be spayed or neutered to help effectively and humanely control the pet population over time.
