Just Released Hy-Vee Partners with Free Clinics of Iowa to Host a Series of Pop-Up COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics in June 5/26/2021 Hy-Vee, Inc. announces today that in partnership with Free Clinics of Iowa, it is hosting a series of COVID-19 vaccination clinics in Des Moines, Iowa, and nearby communities. Altogether, six clinics will be hosted by the two organizations. At each clinic, individuals will be able to choose between the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine or Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine. Pfizer-BioNTech is available for individuals 12 years of age and older and requires two doses, and the Janssen vaccine is available for individuals 18 years of age and older and requires only one dose. All minors receiving the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine must have parental or guardian consent. Individuals who receive the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine can receive their second dose of the vaccine at their local Hy-Vee Pharmacy 21 days after their first dose.

By Sue Danielson May 26, 2021 (West Des Moines, IA) Hy-Vee in partnership with Free Clinics of Iowa, will host a series of COVID-19 vaccination clinics in Des Moines and nearby communities. Six clinics are planned, and the Pfizer and Johnson and Johnson vaccines will be offered. It is recommended (but not required) that vaccine recipients bring the following to their vaccination: insurance card (if they have insurance) and Medicare Part B red, white and blue card (if Medicare recipient); and photo ID. COVID-19 vaccines are free and insurance is not required. No appointment necessary. Masks are required. Individuals can receive a free COVID-19 vaccine at any of the following clinics:

Clive Community Services office building damaged in Thursday fire

A Thursday morning building fire caused significant damage to several businesses, including the nonprofit Clive Community Services. According to a news release from the city, the fire began around 10 a.m. in the lower level of the building on 2190 82nd St. Officials from the Clive Fire Department believe the fire was caused when maintenance work created a spark that ignited nearby flammable objects. The unit where the fire started which was being used as a maintenance storage area by its occupants, according to Clive Fire Marshal Clay Garcia  sustained the most damage. Other units, such as Clive Community Services, sustained mainly smoke and water damage.

Henderson County Detention Center inmates get COVID vaccines through partnership From staff reports In a team effort Monday, the Henderson County Sheriff s Office, Henderson County Health Department and The Free Clinics vaccinated 55 of 152 inmates who requested to be immunized against COVID-19 while incarcerated in the Henderson County Detention Facility. Everyone incarcerated was offered the vaccine and nurses from the Health Department administered the first of two doses. Follow-up vaccinations will be administered in 21 days for those remaining in custody. For inmates being released before the second dose is administered, the county-funded, embedded navigator from The Free Clinics will work to ensure locations, times and informational follow-up is in place.
