This process is a little different from what we saw on saturday with the democrats. There wont be crowds of people migrating to different corners of the room based on their president ial preference. Instead the Republican Caucus is organized around a secret ballot where you put down your candidate. Organizers theyre expecting the process to last no more than 30 minutes to an hour. Fatal shooting of a woman in her own her home in northeast las vegas. This all started very early this morning. And tonight police are still on the scene of this incident. 8 news now reporter Patranya Bhoolsuwan is live near craig and nellis with the latest on this developing story. Patranya Bhoolsuwan we just talked to Metro Sergeant jeff clark just a short time ago. He confirmed that metro swat officers shot and killed a woman in a home right across the street from us here on the 45hundred block aviation street. This after she threatened not to just take her own life, but that of the officers on the scene. With the use of not just one but two separate weapons. This apparently all started around 6 oclock this morning when the womans friend from out of state called metro. Asking police to go check on her. This after she saw a video of that woman trying to kill herself by overdosing on pills. When police got there, she initially did not respond. But after a few hours, the woman came out
2pm when she was shot and killed. Police say she was armed with a shot gun at the time. The woman was pronouced dead at the scene. Right now no word on her identity. Or what circumstances led to the standoff. All they would say is aside from making suicidal threats, she was also threatening officers at one point. Earlier today, a woman was shot and killed by metro police, after aiming a shotgun at officers. After an eight hour standoff. Police were called out to a home near las vegas boulevard and craig just before six am. A nineoneone caller told police she saw video of her friend trying to overdose on pills. Police say the women refused to leave her home, and crisis negotiators tried to talk to her. At one point, the woman came out with a handgun, police say she ran back inside, and came out with a shotgun and tried to shoot herself first. She raised the shotgun and pointed it at the officers nearby. At which time two of our swat snipers fired. The tactic medic was on scene and attempted to provide medical care. However the female was pronounced dead at the scene. Metro will release the names of the officers involved in two days. And the coroner will release the suspects name.
