is we had a horrible tragedy in arizona, but every single day in america, 34 people, as many people got killed at virginia tech, we have a massacre spread out over the united states. somebody was shot in newark today. there are steps we can take. there s a bipartisan coalition, mayors against illegal guns, who are just tired of this unbelievably tragic yet ridiculous reality. there are sensible laws that we can pass, that the majority of gun owners in america, frank lunz had a poll, up to 80% were agreeing with sensible gun laws that we just can t get through congress. what kind of laws? it s outrageous that you can t go to a gun retailer and buy a gun, but there s gun shows all across america, and if you are a terrorist on a terrorist watch list, if you are a criminal, you are a spousal abuser, you don t have to show any background check whatsoever, you can load up the back of a car. we ve got to end the gun show

time now for our media monitor. a weekly look at the hits and errors in the news business. remember the hot and heavy health care debate over the public option? just about everyone called that obamacare provision the public option. including the folks at fox news. but republican pollster frank lunz, a one-time adviser to the newt gingrich, had a better idea. if you call it a public option, the american people are split. if you call it the government option, the public is overwhelmingly against it. you know what, it s a great point. now, those are opinion guys, but the newsroom soon got its marching orders. bill salmon, fox s vice president and washington managing editor issued a memo telling the troops, let s not slip back into calling it the public option. please use the term government-run health insurance, or when brevity is a concern, government option whenever possible. and the troops fell into line. when i asked salmon about the
