At Mondayâs meeting of the Danville Community College Advisory Board, past board member Dr. Frank Grogan spoke during the public comments section regarding the future of the collegeâs nursing program, which has been ranked as the number one nursing program in the state.
Grogan said he was asked to alert the board of âcircumstances that may affect the future ofâ the program. He was told that the nursing program is expected to graduate 10 students in the spring, which is the lowest number in years.
In addition, he said recent resignation of nursing program administrators and instructors has left the program without adequate staffing. These resignations are reported to be in response to alleged actions by administration that could place the nursing program in noncompliance with the Virginia Board of Nursing regulations for nursing education programs.
I was forbidden several years ago by a politically correct editor to write that the Irish have the gift of gab. That was an unpermissible ethnic generalization, and probably racist, either by inclusion or exclusion, I forget which.
