Crime is surging in oakland and the city still doesnt have a Permanent Police chief, the mayor says she may have to take drastic action. San jose city workers fought for a new contract, but at what cost to the city, the cuts the mayor says they are going to have to make to meet demands. The big break came this morning and u. S. Senate. By a wide margin the senate voted on a shortterm spending measure that would reopen the government through february 8. The key for democrats was a deal that would take up immigration reform. Including daca status. If an agreement is not reached by february 8. The senate will immediately proceed with daca legislation. Reporter following the vote trumps press secretary read a statement from him. As ive always said, once the government is funded come in my administration will work towards solving the problem of immigration. We will worksawork towards an immigration deal if its good for the country. Reporter when the Senate Leader Mitch Mcconnell agreed, the deal was set. The republicans get what they want in the shortterm, budget without daca. And the democrats get the promise of a daca in february. Reporter california senators were two of the 18 that no votes. Now we are in in a situation where today is the sixth trading day. The Dow Jones Industrial average was up 540 points. Slowly chipped away at that gain until we finished down at a loss of 200. It is anybodys guess as to what happens tomorrow. Maybe they think we are too pricey. We would have to wait and see how asia opens up tomorrow night. We will be watching that.
