oakland man is facing murder charges. lawrence denard pulled out a gun, fired at a young child and killed and murdered a young child. reporter: authorities say denard is the man who pulled the trigger, that he was trying to kill two other men, robert hudson and jerome williams. hudson and williams were hurt but the toddler later died in the hospital. i know he didn t do it because he just left my house. he just woke my son up. reporter: but denard s cuss.came to court today but didn t want to show her face, her cousin insists he is not the triggerman calling him a loving person with a 4-year-old daughter of his own and would never hurt a child. he probably would have got out and jumped in front of that bullet for a little boy. reporter: his cousin claims denard wasn t at the scene and is not a gang member but authorities say he has a long rap sheet and that the shooting was gang-related. they identified denard tuesday and tracked him to pittsburg before arrest him
dome yesterday. she fell approximately 600 feet off of the cables. rangers were dispatched and pronounced her dead. reporter: therehad been stormed earlier in the day and the rocks could have been wet. hikers use cables to get up and down half dome and there are signs cautioning people about the risk of wet weather. thunder and lightening rain storm occurred and continued throughout the morning so the area was very wet with rain and the rocks were slippery at the time. the accident was the second time in two years that a hiker was killed at half dome. that victim slipped in wet weather. hikers must show rangers their permits before they climb. they let them know there was weather and it was raining and climb half dome is not advisable given the weather situation. reporter: hailey laflamme graduated from castro valley high school. a relative said she loved yosemite national park. coming up at 6:00, we will hear from a experienced hiker about the difficulty coming d
