Five-hundred new COVID patients were admitted to Illinois hospitals between Sunday and Monday a number that represents a quadrupling of COVID patients hospitalized in Illinois since a late-October lull in the pandemic after the state’s battle with the Delta variant in late summer.

Allan M. Spooner, President and Chief Executive Officer of Franciscan Health South Suburban Chicago Division, has been elected to the Illinois Health and Hospital Association s (IHA) board of directors, which represents more than 200 hospitals and nearly 40 health systems across Illinois. His three-year term began January 1, 2021.
Spooner is a seasoned healthcare administrator with decades of healthcare leadership experience and a strong background in strategic planning, quality improvement, clinical program development and growth, as well as patient, employee and physician engagement. I am honored to have been elected to serve on the IHA board, Spooner said. The events of 2020 have shown us in the healthcare industry the need to be resilient and foresightful. As part of the IHA board, I hope to be instrumental in implementing new opportunities for growth and innovation in the industry.
