LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. (WBTV) - The fire chief at a volunteer fire station in Lancaster County has resigned after posting a racially charged comment on his personal Facebook page.
Officials at the McDonald Green Volunteer Fire Department say Fire Chief Francis âButchâ Ghent had been placed on leave for two weeks starting Tuesday, April 27 and was relieved of his duties pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

WECT reports that Francis “Butch” Ghent has been placed on administrative leave following his racist comment’s exposure and broad denouncement. Ghent, however, is still shown as the Fire Chief on the Facebook page for McDonald Green Volunteer Fire Department Station 12 and Lancaster County’s website.

LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. Chief Francis Butch Ghent with the McDonald Green Volunteer Fire Department has been placed on administrative leave for two weeks following a racially insensitive Facebook post, according to a statement released by the fire department.
Ghent previously posted a status on Facebook reading, Dear Police, stop responding to these black neighborhoods. They will eventually kill each other and the fake news won t have a story.
