Share this article Share this article BISSAU, Guinea-Bissau, June 29, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Claytown Productions reports that swimming s governing body, Fédération Internationale De Natation (FINA), has tentatively rejected the application of the Guinea-Bissau Olympic Committee and the Guinea-Bissau Swim Federation to be represented at the 2021 Olympics by dual-citizen, Siphiwe Baleka, a 50-year-old swimmer from the United States, and permanent resident of Guinea-Bissau. Mr. Baleka had planned to represent Guinea-Bissau, the country from which his ancestors were enslaved, according to DNA results. Born in the United States, Mr. Baleka became a dual citizen of Guinea-Bissau in 2020 after discovering that he is an Afrodescendant of the Balanta tribe, whose ancestral territory is largely in present-day Guinea-Bissau.
