He kicked off his campaign outside his community learning center on Monticello Avenue in Greenville.
He is currently running as an independent against incumbent Jermaine Robinson, who is part of Mayor Steven Fulop’s ticket. Gilmore said that while he has no plans to join anyone’s slate, that could change since the election isn’t until November 2nd.
He opened up by honoring past community activists, saying they “fought for others when they were fighting for their own lives.”
One example is civil rights leader Carolyn Oliver Fair, Gilmore’s aunt who passed away last month. He recalled that she often tried to convince him to run for office.

Linda Darnell Groce NEW PALESTINE Linda Darnell Groce of New Palestine, Indiana, passed away on December 9, 2020, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana after a short (but tough) fight against cancer. She was 70 years old. Linda was born in Cumberland, Kentucky on January 8, 1950 to Hoyle and Cena Ferguson. Linda graduated from Clinton County High School in 1968 and studied for two years in college before moving to Indianapolis. In 1977, the family moved to New Palestine where Linda would live the rest of her life. While caring for her family, she also worked full-time until she retired after 30 years of service from Allison Transmission/GM. In retirement, she enjoyed spending time fixing up her house with her dog, Ebony, as much as she did going on many trips with her unbelievably kind and supportive friends. AUSTIN, Texas With the holiday season, we all like to hear a little more good news nowadays.
This week, I went to the Optimist Club s Christmas tree lot to ask people to share their good news. I m getting my braces off in two days, said Otto Dusck. Oh my gosh, yes, we are just overjoyed. We re thoroughly grateful for the success of the lot this year – I mean, having 4,300 trees and almost being sold out just down to a couple hundred left right now, it s overwhelming, said Ronnie Faist, who volunteers at the lot.
