human element of more border patrol. you can t build a wall or a fence everywhere. the president has talked about that. so just to kind of look at the pictures. at the same time, the president is landing with a dual message. one that he wins on. economy at fox con, a facility breaking ground and creating more jobs. what is the news being made today on economy with that message and the president versus politically where the democrats are? well, the president has a fast growing economy. the economy has been doing well. he wants to make sure that the republicans enter the mid-term elections which are not that far away with a strong economy which. but he also has a battle on this. ever since sort of mid-january when he started talking about trade protectionism, tariffs, et cetera, the stock market has been wobbly and it s down for the year. or just about even, slightly

sure to be touting the new plan as a success of his america first policy. while he separates, though, a notably different story just a few miles down at harley-davidson, that company now preparing a shift, some of its production over the shift, because of the president s trade policies, on the ground now there in mt. pleasant, wisconsin just south of milwaukee, peter, first what do we expect to hear from the president? reporter: we expect to hear from him in less than an hour. this is fox con, a taiwan ease electronics giant who s now committed in it s words to bring about 13,000 jobs to this state, the president has previously touted 15,000 jobs, unclear where he came up with that dmub. although it s obvious as we have
trade, think what that means for our country. we re doing very well on trade, i will say. we ve been really hurt as a country on trade for many years, despite bad trade deals, we re doing very well. now we re making very good trade deals. you ll be seeing that. they will be announced pretty rapidly. we already have a couple that are made. and honestly, we need people coming into our country, we have a lot of companies coming into our country. chrysler just announced. we have fox con going up to wisconsin, they make laptops and the apple iphone and unbelievable company. we need people. we need people that work for these companies, because they re coming in at a number nobody thought possible. so we want people to come into our country, but i think i can speak for everybody at the table, we want them to come in based on merit. we want great people that will be great for our country.
because everyone watching has a smartphone and doesn t need a new one. you are certainly talking about consumers not just in america but around the world. it has a large cash ward, and the president of course met with tim cook obviously, they took up the china issue because obviously apple has a lot riding on china success. what did you make of that. with tim cook meeting with apple, apple has a lot riding. they have lots of phones they could make in china that they could make in america. fox con is only the number five smartphone manufacturer in china. they still face the same sort of hurdles that american companies face and i m sure tim cook said, listen. i want you to cut a good deal, we don t have an extended trade skirmish. but we want this open to more than just ourselves.
