and i m maureen umeh. and residents from our area are touching down in japan to assist in the aftermath. the search and rescue team was mobilized on friday. they landed at 1:30 this morning. there are 74 team members, including doctors, engineers, firefighters and rescue dogs. the entire world is feeling the effects of the disaster in japan. the aftermath has been intensified by new problems with yet another nuclear facility. here is fox s adam housely with what is happening right now. reporter: fear growing in japan over a possible nuclear disaster as the u.n. nuclear agency said the country has declared an emergency at a second location 120-kilometer from the first one and closer to the major city of sendai. investigators are investigating the source of the plant but all three reactors they say are under control. after reports of a plant in phyco sheila. friday s earthquake knocked down the plant at that facility. sea water is preventing the meltdown. we re using sa
the attacks spanning four states, including virginia, over more than a decade. police in new haven, connecticut, say u.s. marshals arrested the suspected east coast rapist on a city street in the middle of friday afternoon without incident. back in december of 2009, investigators from four different states concluded through dna evidence that one suspect had been raping and attacking women since 1997. new haven police identified the suspect as 39-year-old aaron thomas. he was charged with sexual assault in the first degree. burglary in the first-degree. and risk of injury to a minor with a $1 million cash bond. he was also charged as a fugitive of justice with charges of two counts of rape, abduction, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in the first degree. the prince william county case is the most recent of the attacks. on halloween 2009, three teenage girls trick or treated in this dale city neighborhood, then were accosted by a man with a gun and march
rural intersection of billingsley and middleton roads in white plains, a murder/suicide involving next-door neighbors. the suspect pulled up alongside him at an intersection. the suspect got out of his vehicle, approached the victim and fired multiple shots into the victim s car. reporter: investigators say 24-year-old charles county school teacher christopher hoffort was shot dead. immediately after the shooting, the suspect turned the gun on himself. that suspect was pronounced dead on the scene. reporter: he was a teacher at north point high school for science, technology and industry. he also coached track and the school s robotics team. this is a 24-year-old young man, second-year teacher in our school system who, you know, came to us from buffalo and started a new life, and started a career, and in two short years made a big impact upon our school community, so it s devastating. reporter: court records show chris hofford had been charged recently with steali
