NORTHFIELD The Planning Board met Thursday to continue its public hearing and discuss recent changes to the site plan for one of three proposed dual-use solar arrays planned for Four Star Farms’ property on Pine Meadow Road. The board also set a date, April 28, to deliberate on granting the special permit.
Jackie Firsty of the Boston-based BlueWave Solar said the project developers met with Eversource to review two options for changing an interconnection pole and the access driveway for “Array A,” the largest of the three arrays at roughly 26 acres that would be located across from the Four Star Farms main building.

‘Struck a nerve’

I do not know any of the parties involved in the debate involving Four Star Farms’ plans for a solar project (Four Star Farms replies to petition, February 1, 2021). Nor am I familiar with the Town of Northfield’s zoning bylaws. I also tend to think that people from other towns should not involve themselves in the business of other communities. However, as someone who struggles daily to keep our own small, 65-acre Ashfield farm open and at least marginally viable, the name of the petition “Save our farm land from permanent damage,” struck a nerve.
