FORT WALTON BEACH Christmas for 600 children and their families in Okaloosa and Walton counties will be brighter this year thanks to the Christmas Connection Angel Tree Toy Shop Program.
For more than a decade the joint program between Catholic Charities of Northwest Florida and the Salvation Army serving Okaloosa and Walton counties has been providing Christmas toys to local families in need.
This year’s event is being held Wednesday and Thursday at the Salvation Army’s offices in Fort Walton Beach. Volunteers, many of them wearing festive Santa hats or reindeer antlers, turned a large hall into a toy store, with everything from Barbies to skateboards, books, board games, clothing and Christmas stockings.
