Yesterday when i had my first trip here. It was about 16 years ago. Got off the plane in the middle of a hot summer. Had fresh new boots on my feet. I was a newly enlisted private headeded to fort jackson for my basic combat training. My introduction to your kind southern hospitality. I deployed to iraq just one year later where i experienced firsthand the high human cost of war and i had the great privilege of serving alongside so many great americans who sacrificed so much.
