I have heard it said that russia was a more centralized state today than it was were least there was a bureau that has to be consulted in some sense and that means that it is the power that can make decisions very effectively and can respond very rapidly with a changing situation and can exploit opportunities very rapidly and we as a nation and as part of a western alliance have to think about how we deal with are relatively cumbersome decisionmaking processes and the much broader need to get by with any course of action from a wide range of parliamentary opinions public opinions, Civil Society and 28 countries across nato and so this is also a very big challenge and its not just a challenge of being ready with conventional wars is but a challenge of thinking outside of the box in this approach and meanwhile the prosperity agenda must remain at the half of the scas work and the Prime Minister and chancellor said many times and you cannot be a strong country and that you have a Strong E
Center. We provide a wide variety of enablers that support special operation. We will keep the linkage that will not break. Thank you sir. I appreciate your commitment to making sure our military men and women are able to perform the missions they are given. Thank you, mr. Chairman, and thank you general for your service to our country and your familys support of the service. You and i have had a good conversation on things and i will ask you what i ask most of the people being pointed. What do you consider the greatest threat . As a soldier and military officer, i would have to say it is russia. Russia is the only country on earth that retains the Nuclear Capability to destroy the United States. It has capability. Intent . Dont know. But the activity of russia since 2008 has been aggressive. They attacked and invaded georgia, seized the crimea and attacked into the ukraine. That is worrisome. I would also add china and north korea and isis along with iran including the recent agreemen
Can be accomplished [ inaudible ]. Why dont you go ahead and take it. So let me first say, i think you touch upon an important observation about too big to fail which so much relies on the discretionary decisions of government and government decision makers, whether it is the d. O. J. Or the s. E. C. There is nothing about too big to fail economists. It is by political decisions and of course when eric holder goes before congress and said that somebody is too big to jail, that reinforces that perception. And on the data point, so again i would start with data can be suggestive as best and during the crisis we saw suggestive data that the funding advantage for the largest institutions had expanded and yes that has contracted but in my opinion you would expect that to contract post crisis. I think you could compare the funding cost today versus precrisis over time. People forget before the crisis, say in 2006, the largest banks paid more to borrow than the smallest banks. It was complete

Must remain at the heart of the fcos work and our diplomacy. The Prime Minister and the chancellor have said many times that you cant be a strong country unless you have a Strong Economy. You cant have a Strong Defense unless you have a Strong Economy to underpin it. The Foreign Office is an important part of the agenda. Ive said many times and ill say again today that the role of the Foreign Office, paid for by british taxpayers must be to protect britains security, to promote britains prosperity and to project britains values around the world. If we do these three things successfully, well deliver our obligations to the taxpayers who fund this. We want to be a major player on the world stage. The Prime Minister signaled very clearly that britain is not in retreat, that we will play our role in keeping the world safe and supporting our own allies prosperity. That means rebuilding the office to ensure the best in the world that my predecessor started ensuring that Foreign Policy is mad
