Thank you, chairman. Perhaps you can answer this. I know secretary kerry referred to it in his opening remarks. I believe like you, mr. Secretary, that american credibility on the International Stage hangs in the balance. While its crucial to make sure that assad never uses chemical weapons again, i think there is something even greater at steak. And that is the message we send to iran as they pursue Nuclear Weapons capability. They see the syrian crossing of the president s red line and the world red line, and the Supreme Leader is also aware that mr. Mr. Obama keeps options on the table to keep iran from possessing weapons. What will irans position be if we dont act now. If they see the stop of new nucr program hallow, and how do you think their Nuclear Program will change as to what we do now . Congressman, there is an enormous amount of question in the region, not just by irania iranians, bu, but by otherwise o whether or not the United States of america means what it says. They as
America the world policeman. Why should we lead this effort, and when will we learn the nations who will support this action. The United States of america is not being the worlds policeman. The United States of america is joining with other countries in upholding International Standard of 184 nation versus joined into. Obviously we have a greater capacity. We have been blessed with an extraordinarily Capable Military that through the years the American People have invested in in order to protect our security interests. Our security interests are directly involved in what is happening in the middle east. Our security interests are directly threatened. This is al jazeera, and one again were following the House Foreign Affairs hearing on capitol hill on whether to authorize the use of military force against syria. Specific countries have talked in terms of acting, saudi arabia, the french, the British Government felt it should but they had a different vote. But i think that raises the sta
202 5853880. Later, we will hear from republicans. President obama took his push for action in syria overseas yesterday on a threeday trip in and the Financial Times has the headline. Obama says the world has to act over syria. The g20 is on the president s agenda. That is where tension remains between him and the leader of russia. She then accused the president ofng on it evidence lying on evidence in syria. He said his credibility is not on the line. Guardian, the leaders trade threats before the summit. Tweeted a picture of the president touching down in that city ahead of the g20 meeting. There it is. The president is going to be meeting with the other g20 leaders later today. Joining us on the phone is david jackson, the White House Reporter with usa today. A series of g 20 things is on the agenda. There will be an arrival ceremony. A workinghere will be dinner. In between all of that, he will have a oneonone meeting with the japanese Prime Minister. Earlier this week, president ob
Humanity, why could we not bring the evidence to the court and find out who is responsible . To court and allow the world to participate in a trial, so to speak. You could have evidence presented, both sides could give their side and then a judgment could be made that would keep the u. S. Out of it, keep the u. S. Out of taking the lead. It would certainly give the president an opportunity to duck out of this red line. Do you think syria would be able to participate in that . Caller i think for the United States to respond just with weapons as the president seems determined to do, it is going to create blowback. It always happens and will probably create more terrorists than not. I think personally we are a nation of justice and a nation of laws. The moral leadership would be to go to an International Court where the whole world could view a fair trial that is carried on by people in the hague where people have no ties to syria. He could all stand back and brought toce whomever is resp
I can understand how aggressive theyve gotten in certain areas. The trip to moscow worries me because there are serious things happening in that relationship that would not have happened were it not for the absolute collapse of faith in the United States, and while there may be good things that can come out of it for the saudis to be off on their own, a lot of bad things can come out of that as well potentially. But that is the kind of uncertainty that we are dealing with in the system that i think has led to quite a bit of trouble. I agree in the first place that syria now takes on this huge importance in terms of trying to convince the iranians that we are serious. I think that operation is now going to need to be something that perhaps the president and his team did not think a couple of weeks ago it might have needed to be. It will now need to have real effects on syria and on other adversaries in the region, that they do not want to test the United States in this regard. I do not
