New rail link proposal to connect north-east with Scotland A new campaign has been launched to return train stations to the north-east from Aberdeen to Fraserburgh.
The North-East Rail campaign, co-founded by train driver Jordan Jack, has set out a proposal to offer the public an alternative road travel with a modern rail infrastructure.
It would link Peterhead and Fraserburgh all the way to Banchory - giving communities a needed service who have been left without it for decades.
Previously the Formartine and Buchan rail line, as well as Deeside, was closed as part of the Beeching cuts in the 1960s.
Loan Rangers: Smyth on target for Stanley Share article:
IN an Easter weekend full of exciting clashes, it was attacker Paul Smyth who caught the headlines for our loan Rangers.
With Smyth’s Accrington Stanley coming up against fellow loanee Mide Shodipo and his Oxford United side on Easter Monday, it was attacker Smyth who came out on top.
Heading into this one a goalless draw with Burton Albion for Stanley on Good Friday saw Smyth playing 84 minutes, whilst a 3-1 defeat to Sunderland for Oxford, saw winger Shodipo withdrawn in the 75
th minute for the U’s.
However, on Monday Smyth’s fourth strike of the season got Stanley underway and a second-half effort from Michael Nottingham ensured that John Coleman’s side sealed the victory and remain in the hunt for the play-off places, whilst Oxford now sit a point below them, having played a game more.
