The Stuttgart School Board of Directors held their regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday, June 8. All members were present, including newly elected board member Victor Johnson.
Superintendent Dr. Rick Gales reported on ongoing construction and future projects at several Stuttgart schools. According to Gales, the largest project in the district is the repair of the roof and HVAC system at Park Avenue Elementary School, where demolition has started. The security system at PAE is also being upgraded.
Board member Todd Barnes requested that Gales give an update on projects related to athletics. Gales said that during a meeting with Athletic Director Josh Price, Assistant Athletic Director Randy Deaton, and High School Principal Jeff McKinney, some upgrades to athletic facilities were recommended. These included replacing the bleachers in the high school basketball
Jefferson food service workers honored for work during pandemic
When the world seemed to shut down March of last year Jenn Raymond-Brown and her team pushed their work into overdrive to continue feeding students and families of Jefferson School District.
Raymond-Brown, Food Service Director at Jefferson Schools, is being honored as a Michigan Food Hero, a campaign started by Michigan dairy farmers to recognize food service workers in schools across the state who went above and beyond to feed students throughout the pandemic. The school will be awarded a $2500 grant to purchase supplies and continue their work to feed those in need.
