I have been here 16 years, working here. Over the years we have developed different programs and presentations for the public, i came across an idea of doing Harry S Truman and the rich and famous. After i started, i saw a number of documents and photos related to those people. I liked watching tv and movies of those growing up. When we were asked to do a presentation, i said this is something people might be interested in. This presentation has documents, photos, sound clips that i want you to enjoy. As we get to the photos, i like to have this interactive, i will point out people and say, let me know if you know who that is. As soon as people are wellknown, they may not have been well known in the 1940s and 1950s. There are different categories we will go through. Entertainers, athletes, politicians, military people. They are playing and he filmed one of his shows here in the Truman Library in 1959. This is a newspaper clipping from about the 1948 election. Somebody added comments to it. There is a collection here at the Truman Library. Many of the letters that are in our collection from truman, he expresses interest in their families. As well as people writing
Been a director for from the last five years, its a high quality preschool site now. We totally embrace diversity, we bring in people from the womens incarceration program, we do a lot of inclusion work, we have a lot of children who are homeless, i add voi kate for the community, i believe in social justice, i believe at risk children being treated like everybody else. I grew up in a large irish native American Family when i was the only one to graduate from college on a scholarship after living homeless in a ten through my years of high school, quality education comes from people who believe in you, i believe i have to give back and i mentored people from the academy and i mentor my teachers to the point that one of them was an award of excellence champion award winner last year as well. My vision for this new office which im really anointed about, the 9 seats that will be represented are critical in sort of creating a system or strengthening the system to continue to work on the strengths and successes that weve had over the years, leverage our resources, San Francisco is rich with resources so we have to continue to find out how to leverage those so obacker our families can benefit, increased access, particularly for children with special needs, nrs a focus on continuity of care, a lot of the children that are in my program that have special needs, we figure out by leveraging other resources and funding to continue to provide those services to our children so they can benefit from the continuity of care who we know its important for these people. Of children, i do a lot of social, emotional work on people especially on the population that needs it. We do a lot of behavioral support plans with our children, i do not believe in expelling preschoolers which is common, we keep the children, we work with the family and we work with the program and these children successfully graduate. Ive been fortunate to have a mentor my entire life that taught me what i was doing. I can tell you i do what i do because someone gave to me and i believe its time for me to give back. My employers will tell you i am the heart of the sentencing i love my children, families and i do love my teachers too. Youll hear me in the halls saying children before chores first, if i see a messy classroom, i know the children came first, it warms my heart, and basically thats who i am.
