Thank you martha. As he indicated the jury has just been dismissed and now we wait for President Trump this after Michael Cohen undergoes a grooming crossexamination and as you put it it was tough for the guy tuesday. This was super tough today. What will he have to neil say about it . We know he wants to speak and will speak momentarily and we will take you there live when he does. Welcome everyone im neil cavuto happy to have you. A lot of big news to tell you about including some records made and all of a sudden unmade. But first outside the courthouse today latest on what went down today. Nate. Reporter Hey Neil The Court is over for the day, at least the jury has been brought out. Still dealing with a couple things we will talk about momentarily but the crossexamination of Michael Cohen will stretch into next week, at least monday. You mention an intense day in court at the end of court today. Cohen acknowledged he never had a Retainer Agreement while working for former President
after they leave office. and so in terms of a violation of some policy and the fairness of calling it a leak to release these memos to the new york times or tell someone to read them, you probably could say that comey violated fbi policy . in terms of any legal stricture, i m much more doubtful. thank you very much. appreciate the time. president trump vows his personal lawyer, michael cohen will not flip as the investigation into michael cohen s business dealings continues. in a tweet this morning, president trump accused the new york times and one of its reporters of going out of the way to destroy cohen and his relationship, adding, sorry, i don t see michael doing that despite the horrible witch hunt and dishonest media. michael cohen under criminal investigation under suspicion of wire fraud, bank fraud and election law violations. joining me now is legal analyst danny
so all these things sort of overlap, making mueller potentially a witness, and there s some reason to think that maybe some of his communications with senior officials on the campaign on issues like national security might already be in mueller s possession. how much people are talking about what a signifier this is? you ve got michael cohen who s in some trouble with the southern district at this point. are people saying there might be a connection here between the hiring of rudy giuliani in that capacity? that s definitely one of the themes that you hear, although it s been quite a while since rudy giuliani held that position. so how familiar he may be with the way they do things right now versus 20 years ago is a fair question. i think, however, giuliani s main role here is supposed to be what he s been talking about the last couple days, which is to get into some kind of dialogue with robert mueller, the special counsel, and move towards an interview of the president. giuliani
can hope for the prosecutor advising the court that the witness has cooperated for a lesser sentence. so the idea that cooperated witnesses are walking off scot-free is usually not the case in federal court. but as you can imagine, u.s. attorneys also have to vet these stories too because there is a huge challenge in using a cooperating witness for prosecutors. even if they make michael cohen a cooperating witness, this will be somebody ultimately, if he is a cooperating witness, that likely has pleaded guilty, has deceived the government in some way. at least that s what they ll allege, and that s what the arrangement will be. and then a defense attorney will skewer a cooperating witness who has participated in deception and who has participated in crimes him or herself. i m not saying that s michael cohen now. but ultimately if that s the federal government s objective to turn michael cohen, then you take the good and you take the bad. those are the facts of life, all right? if he ha
lot of my own reporting where friends of michael cohen and people very close to the trump orbit talk about the feeling that he has of being betrayed. that is, you know, he s basically staring down the prospect of his life being over. and the worry and concern if you re in trump s camp that he would flip. so the tweets this morning, to me, just surface what people have been talking about privately, which is that this is possibly the biggest threat to the president right now. the guy who has known all of his dirty secrets, who has solved all of his problems is now facing the prospect of life in prison and could cooperate with prosecutors. what does that relationship tell you about the kind of friendships or partnerships or business arrangements the president has had with others? in that portrait of michael cohen, you see somebody who is fervently loyal to president trump. you re seeing that unrequited, i guess, according to your sources as well. how emblematic is that of relationships
