TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 3 seeded Florida State Softball Team (55-9) punched their ticket to the Women’s College World Series with a 4-2 win over No. 14 seeded Georgia (42-15) at the Seminole Softball Complex. This is the Seminoles first super regional series win at home since the 2018 Women’s College World Series Championship side. FSU began their work in the third with two straight hit by pitches to begin the inning before a grounder moved Autumn Belviy and Josie Muffley into scoring position. Jahni Kerr stepped up with the chance to bring in the first runs of the game and did so with a shot to the Georgia shortstop who elected to throw home but Belviy just beat out the tag by the slimmest of margins and the Noles were in business. Kalei Harding was next up to bat and continued her strong postseason performance with a beautifully knocked two-run RBI double into left to score Muffley and Kerr for a 3-0 advantage after three. This marks the longest win streak over the Gators in program history with five straight victories. The Bulldogs tacked on the first run with a solo shot to right to open up the top of the second. Michaela Edenfield and Devyn Flaherty responded accordingly with a walk and single respectively to begin the frame but were unable to be sent home. The third inning saw the Seminoles capitalize on their offensive rhythm. Josie Muffley powered the first pitch she saw into the left side for a single before Kaley Mudge blasted the ball into right for an RBI double to tie the game at one apiece. The dust didn’t settle there as Kalei Harding smoked an RBI double herself into left to take the lead. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 6 Florida State Softball Team will travel down to Clearwater, Fla., for the 2023 TaxAct Clearwater Invitational, taking on some of the nation’s best programs in all of collegiate softball from Thursday to Sunday. Team 40 will begin their stay with a late Thursday afternoon matchup against the 15th ranked Arizona Wildcats at 4 p.m. on ESPNU. The Noles have faced Arizona eight times in the past few years with a 6-2 record since 2008. The Wildcats are one of the most successful teams in college softball history with 8 national championships and 25 trips to the WCWS. The Seminoles will then face the 4th ranked Arkansas Razorbacks for a Friday afternoon game at 1 p.m. on ESPNU. The two have only ever met on three occasions where FSU came out on top each time. Arkansas has risen up the polls on the heels of back-to-back conference championships and three Super Regional appearances in the past five seasons.
